VideoLogic has today launched a revolutionary low cost internet/direct dial video conferencing and video capture card range targeted at PC OEMs and the upgrade market. The Captivator PCI range enables any internet user to add video-conferencing capability to their PC for under £70.00.

"Supported by Microsoft and Intel, video-conferencing over the internet or direct dial is the next big phenomenon for everyday computing and communication," said Kevin Dale, European sales and marketing manager for VideoLogic. "Until now, the major hurdle preventing commonplace video-conferencing has been the cost, but with the internet backbone, high speed modems and the new Captivator PCI range, PC users everywhere can enjoy a whole new world of communication for very little cost."

Captivator PCI will add full hardware video capability to the next version of Microsoft's net-conferencing software - NetMeeting. NetMeeting 2.0 (currently in beta) is an enhanced conferencing application with full support for video and is downloadable from Microsoft's web site. In addition, Captivator PCI also supports Intel's Internet Video Phone software (also in beta), which works alongside existing web browsers.

Beta versions of both software conferencing packages are available to download for free from the Microsoft and Intel web sites. Trial versions of alternative conferencing software is also available to download from the web from several other software companies.

Based on the Brooktree Bt848 video processor, this range of standalone PCI half cards are available in two versions - delivering high quality video capture and instant online video-conferencing from a standard Pentium PC, with modem and sound card. Captivator PCI supports s-video and composite video signal formats and comes with a complete set of internet video-conferencing software. By connecting a standard camcorder or dedicated desktop colour camera to Captivator PCI, the user is ready to transmit and receive live video over the internet to anywhere in the world through their existing service provider.Captivator PCI
