Pure launches Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan

London, 12th May, 2014: Pure presents Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan (SRP £119.99). The luxurious digital and FM portable radio with Bluetooth features a bespoke design by fine artist, Rob Ryan and will be available exclusively through John Lewis and Rob Ryan’s store Ryantown from next week.

An internationally renowned artist, Rob Ryan’s intricate papercut style can be found applied across a variety of products including ceramics, textiles, homewares and jewellery. His work often consists of whimsical figures paired with sentimental, grave, honest and occasionally humorous pieces of writing which are often autobiographical.

The design, which Rob created especially for the Pure Evoke D2 features his signature visual poetry printed in blue on white. Rob created a story around the radio which adorns the sides; ‘Listen to the world’ is about a musical journey:

“Drifting in the air on its journey up hills and around corners, through buildings and across deserts and even through your body……Words and sounds to soothe your heart, make you dance and smile and fill you with its warmth! Listen to the world!”

This is why I chose to write this on Pure’s iconic Evoke D2 digital radio, to me – this small box has incredible powers, through it you have the possibility of hearing every single person in the world, every single sound the world makes. On the original BBC coat of arms is the inscription ‘Nation shall speak peace unto nation’, a phrase that has been dropped in place of corporate logos. How else but by listening to other people can you begin to understand them?’

Leading edge features include digital and FM radio, Bluetooth for wireless streaming, an input for an iPod/ MP3 player, alarm, sleep and snooze timers, 20 presets (10 digital and 10 FM) and a kitchen timer. The radio can also be taken out and about thanks to support for the optional rechargeable B1 battery pack (SRP £27.99), which gives users over 30 hours of portable listening per charge.
