PURE Digital – the world leading manufacturer of DAB digital radios – and design guru Wayne Hemingway have taken the revolutionary Bug digital radio to the next level of its evolution – Bug too.

The Bug was the first DAB radio to get advanced features such as MP3 playback, record to SD card, and ReVu™, which lets users pause & rewind live radio. Bug too takes the radio’s advanced functionality to the next level adding all the latest DAB digital radio developments, including electronic programme guide (EPG) and textSCAN, alongside new MP3 hi-fi options which enable MP3 folder navigation and let users wake up to their favourite MP3 or recording.

PURE hasn’t messed with the classic Bug shape but Bug too comes in a new titanium silver finish to set it apart. A new button design and layout refines the ergonomics of the controls. At just £99.99 (SRP) the Bug too is the most affordable advanced DAB radio on the market.

Key features
  • DAB digital radio for more stations and digital-quality interference-free sound
  • EPG for up to date programme information and scheduled listening or recording
  • ReVu™ - Pause and rewind live radio
  • Record DAB radio to SD card or to an external MiniDisc player
  • MP3 playback (SD Card required) with full MP3 folder navigation
  • Alarm, sleep and timer record functions – including MP3 alarm
  • Scrolling display shows artists names, song titles, news, sports results and more
  • Flexible display neck
  • The legendary Bug design – love it or hate it, Bug’s eye-popping design won’t be forgotten

EPG, textSCAN, ReVu and MP3 – the dream team
Bug too is compatible with EPG broadcasts which enable users to browse the programmes on a single station or all programmes at a particular time, see a short description of each programme, and select them for scheduled listening or recording to SD memory card. With EPG Bug too users get access to PVR/SKY+ style functionality which radically changes the ease of scheduling and recording their radio listening.

With PURE’s ReVu technology Bug too owners can pause and rewind live DAB digital radio. 1 And Bug too enables users to record multiple tracks or complete radio programs to SD-card 2. Timer record means Bug too listeners need never miss a programme just because they’re out. Timer recording of specific programmes can be enabled in EPG by a single press of the 'Record' key when on the highlighted program. Users can listen to shows they’ve recorded later on the Bug too itself, transfer the recordings to a PC via USB or card reader, or take their favourite shows out and about using a compatible device such as the PURE PocketDAB® 2000.

textSCAN lets listeners pause and control DAB scrolling text, giving them time to note down web addresses, competition phone numbers or song titles.

MP3 alarms and playback
As well as a great digital radio Bug too is a versatile MP3 audio system with full support for ID3-tags, subfolders and MP3 alarms. MP3 collections can be played back from SD-card, as can DAB digital radio recordings. The Bug can connect to a PC via USB for easy transfer of music files.

Bug too is the perfect bedtime companion, featuring up to 20 configurable alarms that let you wake to your favourite DAB radio station, a tone or an MP3 track or recording.

Thanks to PURE’s completely unique USB upgradeability, existing Bug owners won’t miss out. Bug owners will be able to upgrade to take advantage of EPG, textSCAN and the new MP3 features. Users can also transfer recordings and MP3 files between a PC and Bug too over the USB connection.

Bug too is one of the most fully-featured DAB radios on the market and provides a stylish alternative to PURE’s EVOKE-3.

Bug too has both award-winning British engineering pedigree from the company that revolutionized DAB in the UK and a brilliant, much-talked about, design from Wayne Hemmingway. Wayne Hemingway is the highly successful co-founder of Red or Dead (three time British Fashion Council “Street Style Designer of the Year” winner) and of Hemingway Design.

Says Hemingway, “The original BUG added features that totally changed the way people could listen to and interact with their radios. In the fast paced world of technology nothing stays static and I’m delighted to see the Bug continuing to evolve and get even better.”

Bug too costs just £99.99 (SRP) and is available at leading retailers from June 2006.

Bug too also features a high-sensitivity RF tuner module; selectable levels of Dynamic Range Control; user-selectable service ordering; and a telescopic aerial/connector for external aerial. The product is covered by a 2-year warranty. See www.puredigital.com for stockists or call 01923 277 488.
