HBH Woolacotts Win Grand Prize in PURE Eco Reward Campaign
London, UK 25th February 2010: Ian Littlewood, a Sales Advisor at HBH Woolacotts in Cornwall, has won the grand prize of a luxury eco-holiday worth £2,000 in PURE's 'Less than a Light Bulb'* retailer reward campaign.
During the campaign period (June – Dec 2009), independent retailers saw an upturn in sales of PURE portable Energy Saving Trust radios by almost 25%. The portable digital radio market also increased by 6% in the independent channel in the same period and PURE's 'Less than a Light Bulb' campaign can be seen as a major contributory factor**.

PURE's Less than a Light Bulb campaign ran from June until December 2009 and encouraged sales of its Energy Saving Trust accredited radios by giving away a monthly tailor-made eco-holiday prize to participating dealers each month followed by a grand prize at the end of the year. A consumer promotion was also available, exclusively at independent dealerships who signed up to the incentive, offering consumers purchasing an Energy Saving Recommended PURE radio a chance to win a luxury eco-holiday.

*Running four Energy Saving Recommended radios uses less electricity than one low energy light bulb on for the same time. A PURE Energy Saving Trust accredited digital radio consumes less than 3.5W of electricity in 'on' mode - which with three hours of listening a day (and turned off the rest of the time) would cost 60p a year on the average energy tariff; a typical low energy bulb consumes around 13-18W, which would cost £2.10 - £2.90 a year to run for the same number of hours a day on same the average energy tariff. A typical 13-18W energy saving light bulb is equivalent to a 60W incandescent ('traditional') bulb. 'Average' energy tariff is a price of 13.95p/kWh of electricity (as at Sept 2008).
