Geoff Shingles, CBE, Appointed as Chairman of VideoLogic

VideoLogic Group Plc, the international multimedia company, today announced that it has appointed Geoff Shingles, CBE, formerly Chairman and Chief Executive of Digital Equipment Co. Limited, as Chairman.

Shingles has held the position of deputy Chairman of VideoLogic since July 1994 and will take over from Derek Maclaren, co-founder of the VideoLogic Group, who is taking a non-executive Director role until the end of the financial year, at which time he plans to retire.

Geoff Shingles spent 29 years at Digital in the UK, Europe and the USA. He was Chief Executive of the UK company for 25 years, during which time it grew from £5m to £900m turnover, successfully leading the company through its period of rapid growth.

Geoff Shingles, commenting on his appointment, said: "I am very excited to be given this opportunity to steer VideoLogic into the 21st century. The last few years have been a crucial learning period for the company, and our hard work is now coming to fruition, in both our systems and technology businesses," said Geoff Shingles. "With the graphics and video board products starting to make important in-roads into the OEM sector, and with NEC, we are set to make our PowerVR technology the world standard in 3D. I feel confident that 1996 will be an important year in VideoLogic's progress."
