Go on a journey of music discovery with curated features on Pure Connect
London, 17th April 2013: Pure has teamed up with leading radio and music industry partners to deliver a series of curated music discovery features on the new Pure Connect app* and website.
Pure Connect uniquely combines a comprehensive on-demand music service with a free radio service and control for Pure’s ground-breaking new Jongo multiroom music system. Users can access over 20,000 global radio stations, around 200,000 free on-demand programmes and podcasts, as well as over 15 million streamable music tracks via the Pure Music subscription service**.
And now, thanks to the launch of a series of curated features, users can enjoy content put together especially for Pure Connect by industry leading partners. Launch features include album recommendations from 7digital and Absolute Radio’s Hometime Show DJ, Geoff Lloyd and a focus on fresh new acts through Emerging Icons. There is also a special launch feature on Manchester band, Folks, who performed at the Jongo launch. Music fans can listen to their debut album, “I See Cathedrals” and find out more about the story behind some of the tracks. Each feature contains additional content ranging from interviews to related artists, tracks and albums taking the user on a journey of discovery.
All this content and local music can be beautifully synchronised through the home with Pure Connect and the new Jongo multiroom music system.
The free Pure Connect app for iPhone and iPad is available to download now (Android version coming soon). Users can also currently benefit from a 30 day trial of Pure Music, Pure’s on demand music service. For more information, please visit www.pure.com and www.pureconnect.com
Says Cat Macdonald, Absolute Radio’s communications director: “Pure Connect is a great example of how radio facilitates music discovery and our feature, which is curated by DJ, Geoff Lloyd, takes this one step further by allowing listeners to discover a new artist or rediscover a classic album via a personal recommendation from a trusted source.”
Kat Jackman, CEO of Emerging Icons says: “We have a huge range of artists on our site who are just starting out but have masses of potential and need to be heard. Pure Connect is a great space for music fans and the ideal platform to showcase these emerging icons.”
Says Ben Drury, CEO of 7digital: “Music is about making exciting new discoveries, the emotions it provokes and the memories of great experiences it creates. Our curated feature on Pure Connect is a great way for our dedicated editorial team to help music fans discover new artists, tracks and albums that they’ll love through regular album reviews and interviews with bands.”
Andrew Grimshaw, Folks manager says: “As a manager of a new band, one of the biggest challenges we face is to get our artists heard. Having a feature on Pure Connect is an excellent way of showcasing a band like Folks and connecting them to a new audience and fan base.”
Says Nick Hucker, Pure’s director of marketing: “We are extremely excited to be working with such a great range of launch partners to deliver curated content for Pure Connect. Engaging content that draws the user in is a fantastic addition to the app and will make it even easier for music fans to go on a journey of discovery. This is the start of a journey for Pure and we will be working with a growing number of partners in the coming months to further develop our curated content section.”
*The new version of the Pure Connect is available to download now for iPhone and iPad with the Android version coming soon.

About Emerging Icons
Emerging Icons was launched in 2008 by music graduate Kat Jackman. The business started as a band review site called www.unsignedbandreview.com (UBR) and the site has recently extended its features to include an online music industry social network, so each artist within the UBR community is given a free fan profile on www.emergingicons.com. As fans engage with the artist’s profiles, the company picks up on those artists to help to give back, where appropriate, with radio exposure, live gig opportunities and promotion, and are thus being labelled as the music industry social network that gives back. Emerging Icons’ aim is to go the extra mile to develop key strategic partnerships and collaborations with the biggest platforms out there – creating a real platform for the most dedicated artists to get heard by both industry and fans.
