VideoLogic Takes Aim at the Competition; Announces Special Competitive Upgrade to Apocalypse 3Dx

SAN BRUNO, Calif.--April 29, 1997--VideoLogic, one of the world's leading makers of computer graphics and 3D hardware, took direct aim at its competitors in the 3D market and today announced a special, low-cost upgrade program for qualified owners of 3Dfx based Righteous 3D cards from Orchid and Monster 3D cards from Diamond Multimedia. This aggressive new upgrade program will allow users of these cards to purchase the recently announced Apocalypse 3Dx pack for only $129, a savings of $70 off the suggested retail price.

"Since announcing the Apocalypse 3Dx earlier this month, we have been inundated with requests from 3Dfx owners wanting to know if we would offer them an upgrade program," said Jordan Watters, vice president of sales and marketing at VideoLogic, Inc. "This program provides those users with a unique opportunity to move to the excitement of PowerVR technology at a very affordable cost."

The new Apocalypse 3Dx pack, due to hit the retail market later this quarter, includes an NEC PCX2 accelerator card; four PowerVR-optimized games, including WipeOut XL from Psygnosis, ULTIM@TE RACE from Kalisto, Resident Evil from Capcom and MechWarrior 2 from Activision; and PowerSGL and Microsoft Direct3D drivers.

Apocalypse 3Dx is based on the NEC PCX2 processor and is a single-slot, half-length PCI card for Pentium based PCs running Windows95. The card, compatible with DirectDraw-enabled 2D graphics cards or controllers, is supplied with 4 MB of high performance SDRAM texture memory on board. Its recommended system requirements are a 133 MHz or higher Pentium with at least 32 MB of RAM.VideoLogic Information and Product Support
