Silk City & Dua Lipa - Electricity

Fresh from wowing festival crowds across the globe this summer, DJ super duo Silk City have now dropped their biggest banger to date. The monster production pairing of Mark Ronson and Diplo have joined forces with arguably the biggest pop singer in the world right now, Dua Lipa, for the sublime Electricity.

Indebted to house music’s pinnacle in the 1990s, Dua Lipa’s soulful vocal is tailor-made for the tune’s infectious piano track. Packed to the rafters with a feel-good vibe, it’s not difficult to envisage this superstar collaboration dominating dancefloors the world over.

Hozier ft. Mavis Staples - Nina Cried Power

Back in 2014, Hozier’s debut record was probably the surprise package of the year. The Irish blues soloist’s self-titled effort, featuring the magnificent Take Me To Church, stormed the charts worldwide and turned him into a household. After years in the wilderness, he’s finally back with brand new material.

Forming part of an exciting four-track EP, Nina Cried Power is a rousing gospel number that honours freedom-fighting musical icons such as Marvin Gaye and Nina Simone. Another legend mentioned by Hozier, Mavis Staples, even features on the track – with her commanding vocal adding gravitas to the song’s humbling message.

Calvin Harris & Sam Smith - Promises

Let’s face it; Sam Smith could sing on just about any track and make it sound glorious. But with none other than Calvin Harris on the helm, their sublime collaboration, Promises, is taken to the next level.

Following on stylistically from Harris’ hugely successful last album, the track grooves along with a laid-back, funk vibe that was made to soundtrack a summer vacation. It’s a sound that perfectly complements Smith’s mesmerising vocals, as he reels off the song’s chorus over a dance-inducing bass line that can’t help but worm its way into your head.

Chic ft. Craig David & Stefflon Don - Sober

Nile Rodgers is the mastermind behind some of the most seminal disco and funk tunes of all time. Whether teaming up with legends like Bowie and Diana Ross, or with his dancefloor-conquering collective, Chic, this man knows how to get the party started.

On Sober, Rodgers manages to bridge an undeniable 80s disco sound with a new vanguard of urban music. With the help of garage crooner Craig David, the tune maintains a classic Chic vibe – as the singer’s assured delivery glides over rhythmic guitars. But its Stefflon Don’s cameo that gives the song a 21st century twist, with the UK rapper dropping a fiery verse that will help catch the ears of a new generation of Chic fans.

Gengahr – Atlas Please

Only months after releasing their second album and an excellent live LP, Hackney-based indie group, Gengahr, have unveiled a brand-new single.

With creative juices clearly flowing on Atlas Please, the band showcase their most expansive sound to date. Combining a rumbling bassline, shimmering percussion and frontman Felix Bushe's dreamy falsetto, the end result is a wonderful pop track that hints at a prosperous future for one of the UK’s most exciting touring bands.
