Tune into the festive spirit with these Christmas 2018 radio stations

It’s that time of year where chestnuts roast on an open fire, the decorations get dusted off and Santa either puts you on his naughty or nice list. That’s right, it’s Christmas! But our favourite thing about the festive season is rockin’ around the tree to our favourite yuletide tunes in the build up to the big day. Luckily, there’s a sleigh full of radio stations on hand to bring the cheer this Christmas!

In the biggest radio news this Christmas, Magic Radio will be switching to a 100% festive playlist from Friday 30th November. With a focus on hits from the 80s and 90s, expect classics from the likes of Mariah Carey, The Pogues and Elton John. Kicking off the festivities will be Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott, whose breakfast show will open with a track voted for by listeners.

Heart Extra Xmas also returns this year, temporarily replacing Heart Extra on national digital radio. The ideal soundtrack to your gift wrapping, the station will be cranking up the festive feel good until midnight on Boxing Day.

Regional stations

If you just can’t get enough of the Christmas tunes, there’s also a whopping 17 Christmas stations available locally on DAB throughout the UK!

Festive stations include Eagle Christmas in Surrey and Hampshire, Yorkshire Coast Radio Christmas, Mince Pie FM in York and Christmas Spirit in West Sussex.

Wave ChristmasSignal Christmas and Pulse Christmas have also all launched on digital radio across South-West Wales, Stoke & Staffordshire and Bradford & Huddersfield respectively.

Internet radio

The internet isn’t just a great place for finding funny videos of cats; it’s also home to thousands of brilliant radio stations. Here's our pick of the best Chrimbo-devoted broadcasts to enjoy on your internet radio

Santa Radio, hosted by the big man himself, brings a non-stop playlist of the best Christmas music in the world – from golden oldies, to the latest chart entries. Father Christmas is clearly a busy man, because he’s also broadcasting everyone’s favourite festive hits from the back of his workshop on NP100 - North Pole.

Last but not least, we have Radio Christmas. This UK based charity station began in 2008 and is run entirely by a large team of volunteers, many of them children and young people. By form of donations, the station provides support to children living on the streets in Latin America. Now, that’s what Christmas spirit is all about!
