Digital radio coverage set to reach 68% in France by April 2013

The CSA (Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel), the regulator for digital radio in France, has announced that it will be launching digital radio in 20 new areas from June 2012 - April 2013.

The first areas to get digital radio coverage will be Mulhouse and Strasbourg and once it has been rolled-out in other towns and cities 68% of the metropolitan population will have coverage. It is hoped that by the end of 2015, the whole of France will have terrestrial digital radio coverage.

To further ensure the success of digital radio in France, by the end of 2012 the Council (CSA) will issue licenses to radio stations in RNT Marseille, Nice and Paris.
