Using FlowSongs is as easy as one two three.
Open and top-up a Lounge Account.
To use FlowSongs you'll need to have registered your Flow radio on The Lounge, then open and top-up a Lounge Account using a credit or debit card. When you open your Lounge Account we'll give you a free 90 day trial subscription to FlowSongs so that you can identify (tag) as many tracks as you like, but of course you'll need credit in your account to actually buy tracks.
Listen until you hear a track you like - FlowSongs will identify and give you the option to buy it there and then.
FlowSongs works on any digital, FM, or internet radio station. If you hear a track you like, just select the 'Flow' or 'FlowSongs' option on your radio. FlowSongs identifies the track and shows you the artist, album and price. All you need to do is choose 'Buy', then enter your optional four digit PIN to confirm the purchase. Tracks are individually priced, usually between 79p and 1.29 depending on publisher.
Enjoy the music you've bought on your radio, your computer or your iPod/MP3 player.
Once you've bought a track it's immediately available to stream to all your Pure Flow radios, or you can download them to your computer and because they're DRM-free you can listen to them on any platform you choose including your iPod or MP3 player. Your tracks are stored securely online so you can rest assured that once you've bought something it's always there for you to enjoy.
After your 90 day trial you can continue using FlowSongs for an annual subscription of 2.99, enabling you to identify an unlimited number of tracks for a further 12 months. You can check your Lounge Account balance and top up your account at any time on your Pure Flow radio or online at the Lounge.

FlowSongs identifies (tags) the track. This can take a moment or two.
It does this using Shazam.
When it finds a match, FlowSongs shows you the price, the name of the track and the artist's name. Tap the green Buy button to purchase the track.
FlowSongs prompts you to enter your optional 4 digit PIN number. Once you've done this, tap the green Buy button to confirm your purchase.
It takes a moment to confirm your purchase.
Your purchase is complete! Tap the blue play button to listen to your new track.
Enjoy! You can play your new track on any of your Flow-enabled radios and download high quality MP3 files from the Lounge website for use on your computer or iPod/MP3 player.

- What's so unique about this service? Isn't everyone doing something similar these days?
There is no other service which closes the circle and allows you to buy a track from your radio, listen to that track on your radio and then download it to other devices. 90.6% of the UK population listen to radio every week* and FlowSongs delivers a bridge between the most popular way of discovering new music and the ability to own that music. Pure has always been closely aligned with the radio industry and we want to encourage legitimate digital music purchase.

Close - Who exactly am I buying the song from?
Pure is using technology partners for some aspects of this service but you are buying the music from Pure.
Close - What happens if I have a problem (streaming/downloading a track)? Who do I call/e-mail?
Pure has a customer service and technical support team on hand to address any issues.
Close - How secure is the service and (assuming the answer "100%"), why are you so sure?
FlowSongs is a secure service. Your Flow radio is registered to your account so only you can access the tracks you have tagged or purchased. When a track is purchased, you can download it and save it on your hard drive. Pure will also have a record of every track purchased.
Close - What price will the tracks be?
The purchase price is in the region of 79p-1.29 per track, in line with other online music purchase services.
Close - Can I buy albums rather than just tracks?
Not in this beta release but we intend to add album purchase as a priority in the near future.
Close - Is the content DRM'd?
Tracks that you buy via FlowSongs are provided as unprotected/non DRM'd MP3 files and you can securely stream any track you've bought on any Pure internet-connected digital radio and play downloaded tracks on your iPod or MP3 player. You can also stream unprotected tracks bought from any third-party services on Pure's internet-connected digital radios.

Streamed tracks are 128 kbps MP3 files.

Downloaded tracks are high quality MP3 files, the vast majority of which are 320 kbps.

Yes. Pure's current range of internet-connected radios with Flow technology include: AVANTI Flow, EVOKE Flow, Oasis Flow, Sensia, Siesta Flow and Sirocco 550.

FlowSongs will be introduced in the UK first and then rolled out internationally later in the year.

We have partnered with Mi-Pay for FlowSongs payment transactions. Mi-Pay is an experienced business process outsourcer, providing multi-channel prepaid recharge operations for many major mobile operators in Europe and the Middle East.

Close - I am an artist. Am I getting paid?
As with all legal download services Pure is paying the standard wholesale dealer price your label or publisher request each time a track is sold.
In addition to letting music fans enjoy the tracks they've bought on their PCs and MP3 players we are making it easy for FlowSongs users to play a track immediately from their radio. We don't think it's fair to ask a music fan to pay to listen to a track they've already bought, but we know that copyright is a complex area and so we have set up an e-mail address TakeDowns@flowsongs.com so artists and rights owners can let us know if they are not comfortable with their music being made available in this way.
Close - I'm already a member of the Lounge. What else do I need to do to get FlowSongs?
If you've already joined the Lounge and connected your radio, all you need to do to use FlowSongs is open a Lounge Account. Although you'll need credit in your Lounge account to buy tracks or renew your subscription after the free 90 day trial period, no money will be debited from your card until you tell us to do so. So you can enjoy our 90 day free subscription to FlowSongs without paying a penny, identifying (tagging) but not buying as many tracks as you like. If after using it for tagging you decide that you'd like to use FlowSongs to buy tracks, just top-up your Lounge Account at any time.
Close - Can I try before I buy?
All owners of Pure internet-connected digital radios with Flow technology can get free tagging for 90 days, although you will have to top-up your Lounge Account if you want to purchase tracks.
Close - How do I stop my child purchasing tracks?
When you set up your Lounge Account, you must provide a four digit PIN number. You can opt to use this as part of the buying confirmation process, preventing unauthorised purchases.
Close - What do I do if I forget my pin number?
You can change your Lounge Account details including your PIN number via The Lounge. A security question will be asked before any confidential details can be changed.
Close - Can I use FlowSongs in my car?
Currently Pure has no internet-connected car radios, however in the future it may be possible to provide Flow technology in the car.
