EcoPlus

EcoPlus is a statement of Pure’s on-going commitment to our environment and its future. It indicates that environmental impact has been considered in the design, manufacture and transport of our products, and has driven both what we do and how we do it.

EcoPlus sets standards within Pure in the following areas:

Reduced power consumption

At the heart of EcoPlus is the requirement to reduce the power consumption of our products while playing audio and also in standby.

Use of materials from recycled and sustainable sources

All EcoPlus products are packaged using cardboard produced with a minimum of 70% recycled material, and finished using water-based varnish. All internal pulp trays are 100% recycled, and the user documentation is printed on 100% recycled paper using Soya-based inks. We also encourage our customers to recycle all packaging materials.

Optimum packaging size

For some time it has been common in the consumer electronics industry to package products in boxes which are larger than required so that the boxes stand out more prominently on the retail shelf. The boxes of EcoPlus products are designed to be the smallest they can be whilst still ensuring the integrity and security of the product inside. This maximizes the number of products which can be shipped in each container, and thus minimizes the environmental cost of transport.

Components with minimized environmental impact

All electronic products contain printed circuit boards, electronic components and metals, as well as using chemicals during manufacture. The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standard mandates that products should contain restricted quantities of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). All Pure products conform to the RoHS standard.

At Pure we’re realistic, and know that there are always improvements to be made - that’s why EcoPlus doesn’t stop here. We’ve made significant changes to our products and working practices, but there is plenty more to do and EcoPlus will evolve with time to further decrease our impact on the environment.

Pure is also a member of REPIC, which ensures that electrical appliances are reused or recycled.
